Dallas Cowboys linebacker Kennan Gilchrist (48) and safety Xavier Woods celebrate after a missed field goal by the Arizona Cardinals during the second half of the Pro Football Hall of Fame NFL preseason game in Canton, Ohio.
Appalachian State alum Kennan Gilchrist, an undrafted rookie for the Dallas Cowboys, ranked fourth on the team with three solo tackles in a 20-18 preseason victory against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday.
Gilchrist made fourth-quarter stops on a 5-yard pass and a pair of 2-yard runs by former UNC running back T.J. Logan. Gilchrist also defended an incomplete deep pass intended for former Fayetteville State receiver Chris Hubert.
Gilchrist had 89 tackles, 11 stops behind the line of scrimmage and three sacks while playing outside linebacker as a senior in App State’s 3-4 defense. The Cowboys use a 4-3 scheme.
